Top 2 Tuesday: New Years Resolutions

Well it's been a while since I participated in Top 2 Tuesday so I thought it would be the perfect post to join back in. These probably aren't very unique but it's things that I actually want to get accomplished this year in 2011.

1: Loose some weight
Ok, I know everyone says this to start out the new year and then quits two weeks into the year, but I really want to try to keep this one up. I have put on some weight that I don't think my body should have. I don't really think I'm "fat" I just don't feel comfortable with myself like I should feel and I want to get that feeling back. My plan is to start running everyday, although I can't promise anything on the weekends. :) I also would like to eat a little healthier, but not go on a diet. Diets only work for me if I never stop doing them and I know that I will stop doing them. Haha.

And if these old people can do it then I know I can keep it up for a little while at least. :)

2: Declare a major and feel happy about it.
I am having some troubles choosing something that I want to major in. I don't want to choose the wrong thing and be stuck doing something I hate for the rest of my life. I am considering advertising as a major and will know by next semester hopefully if I enjoy it as much as I think I might now. This is a huge decision and I know I can always change my mind, but I like having a plan and I don't like change. That is probably something I should be working on this year as well.

Maybe I need this book to help me decide. :)

Merry Christmas!

Hey everyone!

I know it has been forever since I have posted but I have just been so super busy. I promise when I get back from my trip I will begin to post more frequently. I am currently in Kentucky with my parents and one sister visiting family. Both of my parents families live in Kentucky so it is a tradition to come up here every year and visit with everyone. We are having a white christmas this year with about 4 inches of snow and it is beautiful. Tomorrow I plan on making a snowman and enjoying the snow that I never get to experience in Texas. We had family christmas with my mom's side of the family last night and then had our own Christmas eve service at my granny's house since the snow was pretty bad and we didn't want my grandparents out in it driving to the service at the church. My cousin sang with his guitar and we read the Christmas story and sang a couple traditional christmas songs. It was interesting with all the harmonies going on since my uncles and cousins are all singers. Today we are at my dad's side and we had lunch and played "Dirty Santa" but with good gifts. I stole this cross I wanted and I am excited to add it to my cross wall. Tomorrow should be filled with shopping and hopefully I will get some good stuff! Here are some pictures over the past couple weeks since I have been M.I.A. Oh and by the way, I got a dog about a month ago and her name is Cali, I will post some pictures when I get a new camera cord since she chewed on my cord and ruined it.....

Sorry I'm so behind!

So I feel like I haven't posted in so long and it's because I've been so busy moving and settling in at my new house! Tomorrow I will do a long update hopefully with lots of pictures of the house and my new kitty. I finally was able to get a kitty like I have been wanting for over a year now and she is so cute and is PERFECT in my eyes. She is about 6 months old and she is an orange tabby. :)

Since it's officially the last day of the 30 day blog challenge I will play catch up and finish today and then tomorrow will post on my life.

Day 30: A picture

This is Belle, she is my new kitty and she is so cute!

Day 29: 3 Wishes

1) To figure out what I want to do with my life, what to major in.
2) I wish that I could motivate myself to work out, because when I get home it is dark and I hate running in the dark.
3) I wish that I didn't have to go to school everyday, even every other day would be nice.

I know those are really random but they are things that are currently on my mind.

Day 28: Something that stresses you out

First and foremost I would have to say SCHOOL! College is so much work and although I know that i should get a degree and graduate half the time I wish I could just quit and stay at home all day. Maybe even get a job that I love doing.
Another thing that stresses me out is Money. Although I am fortunate to still have my parents to give me the things that I need (because I'm still in college, it will stop once I graduate) I stress about not having enough when I want something or the future when I have to provide for myself.
The future is the last thing that stresses me out because I don't know what I want to do with my life, like my career. I have taken classes in so many different things and nothing is standing out enough for me to choose it. I feel like I will never decide and I will be in college forever. My ultimate hope is that Ryan will make enough money where I don't HAVE to work and that way I can get a part time job that may not pay all that much but at least I will be happy.

Day 27: Pets
Well since I just got a new one I am happy to talk about her. She seriously is the sweetest and when I saw her at the pound I just knew I had to have her. The people at the pound were surprised because she is an older cat, not really old just 6 months but most people adopt the baby kittens and I thought that having one that was a little bit older would be better for my situation.

Here she is in my hamper.

In the shower licking the water out.

Playing with my foot!

On top of the dryer, checking it out!

And I can't forget to talk about my cat that I grew up with. We found him when I was 7 and he lives at my parents house. I still love him so much and I think he is super cute too. His name is Kito and he is about 14. :)

On the table while I'm making a cake

Under the Christmas Tree last year. :)

Day 26: A picture of my family
This is my family at my sister's wedding.

Taken in August of 2007

At my high school graduation in May 2009.

Day 25: Put your iPod on shuffle, first 10 songs

Unfortunately I don't listen to my iPod ever and it hasn't been updated in years. So i'm going to skip this day. :)

Day 24: Something you have learned

One important thing that I've learned is to never give up no matter what may be going wrong in your life. This can apply to many different things, relationships, school, a projects, a goal. But, whatever the case may be you should always be persistent and things will work out how they should. It may not be how you expected or wanted but that isn't always up to you to decide.

Day 23: Favorite Vacation

I think my favorite vacation would be this past summer when Ryan and I went to California. It was such a relaxing time to get away from work and school and spend  some quality time with each other. See here for pictures from our vacation.

Day 22: Favorite City

I haven't traveled to many different places so I gues I would have to choose the city that I grew up in, Dallas. I'm not from Dallas but from the Dallas area and I drive to Dallas everyday for school. There is a lot to do and plenty of pretty places to visit. Also, it's close to many different cities so it isn't a far drive to go to many places.

Day 21: Picture of yourself

This is probably one of my favorite pictures of myself. It is one of my senior pictures and it was when I had short hair.

Day 20: Nicknames

Well mostly people just call me Carmen but my sisters call me Boo. Sometimes I'm Carm, or Carmey, or Carmgen. Mostly just Carmen though.

Day 19: Something you miss

I miss having all my friends living so close. All of my friends are away at college and I don't get to see them that often so when everyone comes home we usually will have get togethers. I am the type of person to have a few good friends rather than a bunch of random friends so my friends that I do have I am very close with.

Day 18: Something you regret

I regret giving in and going to SMU. My dad works there so it significantly helps that I go there, money wise, but I just am not happy there and I don't have many friends because the people aren't like me. I have different interests and am in a different money bracket then most of the rich kids that go there.

Day 17: Something you look forward to

I look forward to my vacation on spring break. Hopefully we will be able to go to California for Ryan's cousin's wedding and spend the week there again.
Also I look forward to Christmas Break because I get to visit family and friends, and I don't have to go to school!

I really enjoyed this challenge, it made me think about things I would never have thought of and I enjoyed linking up and looking at everyone's blogs.

Thanks for reading!

Bummed

Hey guys,
I would first like to start out by saying that I am pretty upset because our house closing got delayed again. I don't understand why when you pay someone to do their job that they aren't able to complete that task. I mean we provided them with EVERYTHING they could possibly ask for even going so far as to snooping on Ryan's banking account to see what he has bought since last time they were nosy and asked for it. I mean come on, there is no reason to need to know exactly what we buy, do you really think that our trip to Wendy's is that important as to whether or not you approve us to buy a home?? I think not. All they "claimed" to have needed is the proof that the check from the title company cleared and we sent the check image and proof that we gave the people the check and they were able to check with the title company to prove that the check was in fact a good check but they still seemed to need to look at the bank account again and see that the finances were removed from the account. It seems ridiculous! Although, maybe i'm wrong and don't know anything about this process and closing gets put off TWICE all the time, but I highly doubt that there is any reason for this. I mean putting this off is not only a hassle on us but also the people who are selling the house who have already moved 5 hours away and have to plan a trip down here every time only to say "Oh never mind, you actually wasted your trip and wasted the time off that you had to schedule to be here ..."  And one last thing, we had the internet installation set up for Friday morning and now it has to be rescheduled for the next week sometime because it had to be canceled since we wont be there and the house wont be ours yet. So when we move in we will have no TV and no internet, thus nothing to do... Oh Joy!!!

Sorry if you read all that and think I'm crazy, I'm really not, I just am upset and needed somewhere to vent.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On a happier note I need to catch-up on my blog challenge

Day 15: Favorite Bible Verses

1 Corinthians 13: 4-8 & 13

4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8Love never fails.13And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

I found this cool picture:

Also in my room I have 2 crosses with this verse that I love. I would love to start a cross wall like many people have in my new house. Here are my crosses:

I played with the effects and I think it looks cooler. :)

Another verse that I like is:

Jeremiah 29:11

11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

I also have a painting that I found at a garage sale that I have hanging in my room with this verse on it.

Day 16: Dream Home

Well if I could choose any home in any price range I'm not really sure what it would be. I have aspects that I would like but nothing that I really need in a dream home. If you want to see my dream kitchens then go here

I would for sure need a large laundry room
Garage in the back
4-5 Bedrooms
3-4 Bathrooms
Big Backyard
Lots of trees
One story
Walk-in closets
A separate room for the toilet. (I know I'm weird)
Large living space that opens into the kitchen
Dining Room
Wood floors and carpet in the bedrooms
I also like the look of stone on the front of the house
Also a dark wood garage door.
Double door entrance.
That's all that I can think of for now but I'm sure there are many more things I would want in my DREAM home. :)

Here are some pictures of homes that I like:

This one is really cute and it also has the wooden garage doors that I love.

This one is a little too big for my liking but I like the look of it.

See this has the stone and the garage door I LOVE!

Anyways, I could go on for days but I will stop there. Thanks for reading and stopping by. :)

Come back and visit!

Love, Carmen

Playing Catch Up

Well, I haven't really been inspired to write about anything lately. This weekend wasn't very exciting. We were supposed to close on our house last Thursday but the title company didn't complete what they were supposed to and had to put it off until this week on Wednesday. I was pretty bummed about it so hopefully we can close this time and get to moving. We only have until the 31st to put it off because we have to be out of the apartment by then. This weekend we bought a dining table and I LOVE it. My favorite thing about it is the bench that it has with it.

The table is from Rooms To Go and it was on sale, which is a bonus! We love that it is very sturdy and will hopefully hold up for a long time. It will be delivered in 2 weeks!!!

There isn't anything else exciting to say until we move in and I will keep everyone updated on the progress of that! :)

Blog Challenge Catch Up
On a different note, I have forgotten to keep up with the blog challenge so I will now show Day 11-14.

Day 11: Favorite TV shows
I watch too much TV, seriously, when the weekend comes I have so many shows to catch up with that it is hard to finish them all before the start of the new week. But, I can't stop watching all my shows, it would be way too sad.

In order from when they come on in the week:
Keeping Up with the Kardashians
Desperate Housewives
True Blood- not on now but I do watch it
House
Glee
Flipping Out
Teen Mom
16 & Pregnant- kinda embarrassed that I still watch it.
The Mentalist- behind a couple seasons so I don't watch every week
Survivor
Top Chef
Top Chef: Just Desserts
Criminal Minds
Project Runway
Grey's Anatomy
Real Housewives of everything besides Atlanta
Sister Wives (too bad the season is already over)
Big Brother

Day 12: What I believe
I believe in....
... God
... Laughter
... Happiness
... Doing what you love, not what makes the most money
... Miracles
... True Love
... There is someone out there for everyone, you just have to find them

Day 13: Goals
I'm not big on making lists and planning what I want to do so thinking of goals is a little challenging.

1. Graduate college
2. Get Married
3. Have a child/( children??)
4. Find something I love to do
5. Learn to sew
6. Become more crafty
7. Try to be more open to change
8. Become more outgoing
9. Find a church to be involved in
10. Read the Bible more often

Day 14: A Picture that I love
I think I have to choose this picture

This is from my vacation and Ryan took this picture. I think it looks like a professional took it. I want to blow this photo up and frame it on my wall. I think it would look really cool. I think this view is beautiful and it reminds me of a great vacation with my honey. :)

Thanks for reading!

Blog Challenge: Day 10

Day 10: Something I'm afraid of

Well I'm afraid of many things.
1. I'm scared to be alone, I like people to be with me wherever I go unless I'm at home.
2. I'm afraid of most all bugs, especially cock roaches.
3. I'm afraid of haunted houses and refuse to go to them.
4. I'm afraid of not being able to have children when the time comes.
5. I'm afraid of big dogs unless I know them.
6. I watch too many shows like Criminal Minds and I'm scared that a psycho killer is going to break into my house and kill me.
7. I'm afraid of getting into car wrecks, which is why I don't like to drive.
8. I'm afraid of death and losing my family and friends.

I know this post wasn't too interesting but hopefully I'll be less busy tomorrow!

Blog Challenge: 7, 8, and 9

Like most days, I am behind again on this Blog Challenge. I thought that doing this would make me blog everyday, but obviously that is not the case. School is stressing me out and I had a test today so studying comes before blogging unfortunately. :(  I am going to try my hardest to keep on track and blog everyday until the 30 days are up. After that I can't promise a post everyday...but I will try! :)

Day 7: Favorite Movies

I am not a big movie watcher. I wouldn't choose to go see a movie for a date and you pretty much have to drag me there unless it's a movie I really want to see. But, I do have some favorites that are pretty random.
Here we go!

V for Vendetta
The Holiday
Mulan
The Departed
Blood Diamond
Spy Game
The Notebook
Elf
Mean Girls
RENT- although the play is better!
She's The Man
Anything with Leonardo DiCaprio

That pretty much sums it up, but I'm sure there are others.

Day 8: A place I've traveled to

As a kid, my family didn't take many vacations so I have to choose the trip I recently went on with Ryan, California!!
I loved Cali, the weather was awesome, it was beautiful with the mountains around, and the atmosphere was very lively and I love it.

Here are some pictures!

At Universal Studios

Santa Monica Pier

With the Hollywood sign

Catalina Island.

Zuma Beach, It was freezing!

Overlooking Downtown L.A.

Day 9: A picture of my friends

Meredith, Cassidy, Emily, Me, Erica, Kenzie

Same Group minus Cass

Paige, Erica, Alyssa, Me

Some High School Friends

A big group at one of my friend's weddings.
So much fun!

Well my friends don't take many pictures so those are all the good ones I could find.
I hope you enjoyed this LONG post.
Come back and visit!!
Love, Carmen
